Role synopsis
C&EA Planning
- Delivery of key strategic priorities through world-class C&EA
- Develop a clear understanding of the BP’s operations strategy in Kuwait
- The capability to identify, assess and mitigate risks is critical to C&EA’s ability to deliver its core purpose
- Facilitate the enhancement of the Group’s reputation
- C&EA risk assessment and planning integrates with Group planning processes
Communication
- Interaction with local press and media
- Build relationships with the media
- Work proactively with reporters
- Manage press queries about all aspects of our business in Kuwait
- Preparation of briefing material for press office
- Corporate external communications and internal communications
- Work with senior management and facilitate the Media’s access to them
Government Affairs
- Understand the real mechanisms by which policies are made or can be influenced
- Identify, develop and maintain appropriate relationships at all levels of government/ KPC & KOC
- Deep understanding of the mechanics of government
- Capability to package BP’s business issues in ways that are meaningful for government/ KPC & KOC
- Ability to interpret government thinking for the needs of BP’s business
- Ensure BP’s integrity in all interactions
Corporate Social Responsibility
- Deliver shareholder value on a long-term basis by delivering an impactful corporate social responsibility program for BP Kuwait
- Work with host government to increase the understanding of managing the wealth that its investment generates
- Help reinforce and support creation of local employment and building the capacity and capability of local, third-party companies to act as suppliers and contractors to BP
Other
- The C&EA Manager will sit on the BP Kuwait Leadership Team and be responsible for day-to-day C&EA activities in country
- Support the Regional Incident Management Team, and Emergency Response Team in developing crisis communication and reputation management for BP in Kuwait
- Project manage planning and execution of events for BP Kuwait
- Ensure staff are engaged and aware of BP’s activities
Key accountabilities
- Support the BP Kuwait Country Manager on a day-to-day basis on delivering C&EA in country. Support the VP C&EA Middle East on delivering regional/group C&EA strategy.
- Manage the C&EA budget
- Manage contractors implementing work for BP Kuwait’s C&EA – including running fair, transparent and compliant tenders
Essential Education
- University education in relevant field
Essential experience and job requirements
- 15 years of relevant experience
- Excellent communication skills and able to engage internal and external stakeholders well.
- Dual English / Arabic fluency
- Awareness of cultural matters
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect to diversity
- Dynamic, goal focused and career-oriented
- Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas
- Strong project manager
Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location)
Kuwait based, travel up to 10%.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Knowledge of oil and gas industry
- Ability to understand and priorities tasks independently and without needing day-to-day oversight
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and across different disciplines
